Mayor's Youth Council launches, seeks applicants

Oct 30, 2019

Mayor Harvie is proud to unveil the establishment of a new Mayor’s Youth Council at City of Delta to encourage youth to get involved in local government issues that matter to them.

As part of the Mayor’s Youth Council launch, the City is currently seeking applications from youth and young adults between the ages of 15 and 23 who reside in Delta to join.

“I strongly believe youth can effect positive change on matters affecting our community. The Mayor’s Youth Council provides a platform for youth representation and input as well as the opportunity for youth to gain valuable local government experience.”
          - Mayor George V. Harvie

The Mayor’s Youth Council will consist of 12 youth voting members who will meet quarterly and serve for one-year terms. Mayor Harvie will act as a non-voting co-chair to support the chair, who will be elected annually by Mayor’s Youth Council members.

City staff are working with Delta School District officials to promote this new opportunity for youth participation and experience in local government.
