United Way Workplace Campaign Summary

Council received a summary from the chairs of the City’s 2018 United Way workplace fundraising campaign. In total, staff raised $49,000 for the United Way. View the staff presentation.


Councillor Kanakos Leave of Absence

At the Executive Meeting, Council approved a leave of absence for Councillor Kanakos for medical reasons until the end of February 2019. It is hoped that this medical leave will be brief and that Councillor Kanakos will be able to return to her duties prior to the end of Feburary. Council sends its best wishes for a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing Councillor Kanakos back in her chair at the Council table soon.


South Delta Secondary School Track Shared Use Agreement

Council approved a shared use agreement between the City and the Delta School District for the South Delta Secondary School track. Plans are in place to have the synthetic track surface installed in 2019 to complete this project in advance of the 2019/20 school year. View the staff report.


Strategy to Remove Clothing Donation Bins

Council approved a series of actions to remove donation bins from Delta as a public safety measure. Donation bins have been declared unsafe and must be removed by January 29, 2019. In addition, staff will undertake a review of the City’s bylaws to prohibit unsafe donation bins in Delta. View the staff report. View the news release.


Vancouver Fraser Port Authority Update

Council endorsed an update on various Vancouver Fraser Port Authority projects and initiatives, including the new Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility, Deltaport truck staging facility, and proposed terminals at Fraser Surrey Docks. View the staff report.


Roberts Bank Terminal 2 – Third Submission

Council approved the submission of comments on the supplemental information for the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project. The City’s comments are related to noise monitoring and prevention, mitigation for bird colllisions and traffic congestion. These comments will be provided to the Review Panel for consideration as part of the environmental assessment process. View the staff report.


Updates to 2019 Council Meeting Schedule

Council endorsed amendments to the 2019 Council Meeting Schedule, including the addition of a Public Hearing on February 12th for the Nicholson Road development project and an update to the schedule for the month of May. View the staff report.


Rezoning Approved for Service Station at 5206 Ladner Trunk Road

Council gave final adoption to Bylaw No. 7737 and approved various permits in order to renovate the existing service station by redeveloping the auto service area into a Triple O’s take-out restaurant. View the staff memo.


Zoning Bylaw Amendment to Permit an Indoor Recreation Facility at 1359 56 Street

Council gave first and second readings to Bylaw No. 7820 to consider a zoning amendment to permit an indoor recreation facility use at 1359 56 Street. The owner is seeking to open a yoga studio at the location. The application has been referred to a Public Hearing. View the staff report.


Development Variance Permit for Tsawwassen Golf & Country Club

Council approved the issuance of a development variance permit to allow construction of a new shed to accommodate the storage of golf carts at the Tsawwassen Springs Golf & Country Club. The proposed location of the shed is adjacent to the driving range. View the staff report.
