39th Annual Polar Bear Swim

Dec 28, 2018

Congratulations to everyone who made it out to the 39th Annual Polar Bear Swim!

With 400 registered swimmers and over 2000 spectators, this was our most successful event yet!

As expected, it was a chilly day, with the temperature was  4° in the water, and  3° on the land. Of course, that didn't deter our brave swimmers.

Here are some of the highlights from the event:

  • Mayor George V. Harvie and Councillor Dylan Kruger greeted the crowd and welcomed in the New Year.
  • Parks, Recreation & Culture Commissioner Rod Binder was our MC for the event
  • The Eldest Swimmer was 74 year old Robert Dumancic
  • The Farthest Away Swimmer was 13 year old Mishke Reux from South Africa.

The top 3 swimmers were:

1st Place – Harlan Theaker

2nd Place – Jared Soll

3rd Place – Tyler McLeod

We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to all our amazing sponsors!

We look forward to braving this icy tradition in 2020!
