Council Highlights provides an informal summary of key decisions made by Delta Council at each Regular Meeting. The City Clerk provides the complete, formal documentation of Council meetings referred to as minutes.


Recognition of Departing Council Members

Mayor Lois E. Jackson recognized the departing members of Delta Council, thanking each Councillor for their dedicated service and contributions to Delta:

  • Councillor Sylvia Bishop, served from 2011-2018
  • Councillor Robert Campbell, served from 1999-2018
  • Councillor Heather King, served from 2008-2011 and 2014-2018

As well, the Acting City Manager and City Clerk honoured Mayor Jackson for her many years of service to the City of Delta. Mayor Jackson has served as a member of Delta Council since she was the first woman elected to Council in 1973, and as Mayor of Delta from 1999 to 2018. Mayor Jackson also served as Chair of the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors from 2006 to 2011. At the Inaugural Meeting of Council on November 5th, Mayor Jackson will retire her position as Mayor and be sworn in as a Delta Councillor.


2018 Local Government Elections Results

Council endorsed a report of the results of the October 20th Local Government Election from the City Clerk. The total number of ballots cast for this election was 31,434, representing 43% of the total registered electors. The results of the election were officially declared by the Chief Election Officer on October 25, 2018. View the staff report.
