Halloween Safety & Fireworks Regulations
Oct 18, 2018
With Halloween approaching, please ensure you and your family take the following precautions in preparation for a safe night of trick-or-treating:
- Be visible – carry a flash light or glow stick and wear reflective clothing
- Stay on sidewalks and in well-lit areas
- Stay in groups; younger children should be accompanied by an adult or guardian
- Inspect – all treats should be inspected by an adult before consuming
The City of Delta, in cooperation with CUPE Local 454, will have also extra staff out patrolling our parks and community facilities on Halloween. Any suspicious behavior or public safety concerns will be reported to Delta Police.
Please do not call 9-1-1 for fireworks or fire cracker complaints, unless it is an emergency. Instead, please direct all non-emergency calls to the Delta Police Non-Emergency line at 604-946-4411.
As per Delta Fire Regulation Bylaw No. 5855, fireworks are not allowed to be sold or discharged within the City of Delta. The only exception is with the purchase of a $200 permit from the Delta Fire Department, accompanied by a Fireworks Safety Plan, and proof of general liability insurance (with a minimum coverage of five million dollars).
For more information about Delta’s fireworks regulations or to inquire about applying for a fireworks permit, please contact the Delta Fire Administration Office by telephone at 604-946-8541.
