BC Winter Games Recognition

Mayor Lois E. Jackson congratulated the Delta athletes who competed at the 2018 BC Winter Games in Kamloops this past February. Delta athletes brought home 15 medals, including five Gold medals, and assisted the Vancouver-Coastal Team in finishing first in the overall standings. Mayor Jackson thanked the dedicated coaches, families and supporters as well as the Delta Sports Council for their advocacy. Mayor Jackson also presented the following Delta athletes, coaches and officials with a certificate of recognition:

TranLink’s Southwest Area Transport Plan

Council received an overview of the Southwest Area Transport Plan from a delegation of TransLink staff. Council received the Plan and will work with TransLink on its implementation. View the memorandum from the Director of Engineering.


Day of Mourning

Council endorsed the observance of one minute of silence on April 23, 2018, in remembrance of workers killed or injured on the job. During the week of April 23, 2018, the CUPE Local 454 will fly the CUPE Day of Mourning Flag on Delta’s Special Flag Pole at City Hall. On Saturday, April 28, all other flags at City hall will be flown at half-mast from dawn to dusk in honour of the National Day of Mourning. View the staff report.

Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Update

Council received an update on a Roberts Bank Terminal 2 environmental assessment process. The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency Review Panel is still collecting information regarding the potential impacts from Roberts Bank Terminal 2. After completion, the Review Panel will hold a public comment period and public hearings. View the staff report.

Veterans Reserved Parking

Council endorsed the conversion of a parking space on the north side of Trenant Street to a reserved parking space for veterans. This reserved parking space is next to the Legion and will offer further recognition for veterans. View the staff report.


Delta Fire Fighters’ Annual Boot Drive

Council received information regarding the Delta Fire Fighters’ Annual Boot Drive. The Drive raises money and awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, as well as the Delta Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society. This year’s Boot Drive will take place on October 12 and 13. Last year, the Charitable Society raised over $22,000. View the correspondence.
