2018 Standing Committee on Finance - Volunteers Needed

The City of Delta is seeking a volunteer for the vacant seat on the Standing Committee on Finance. Mayor Lois E. Jackson established a Standing Committee on Finance made up of three (3) community member who work alongside three (3) members of Council, one of which to serve as Chair (Mayor) and another to serve as Vice-Chair.
The purpose of the Standing Committee on Finance is to provide advice to Council on Delta's financial matters, including but not restricted to:
- Budget structure, formulation and reporting
- Investment policies
- Expense policies and reporting
- Reserves - infrastructure and capital
- Purchase cards
- Tax collection policies
- Over and short spending policies
- Debt and debt servicing
- Purchasing policies
- Revenues, usual and unusual
- Overtime/ travel time
- Legal fees
- Audit fees
- Quarterly budget variance
The current membership includes Mayor Jackson (Chair), Councillor Robert Campbell (Vice Chair), and Councillor Jeannie Kanakos, as well as community members Pip Steele, and Ian Vowles.
The Standing Committee on Finance will meet four times a year and/or at the call of the Chair.
If you are interested in being appointed to serve as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance, please submit a brief resume and covering letter, indicating why you would like to serve and any relevant knowledge and experience you may have.
