Daylight Saving Time Ends on November 5
Nov 01, 2017
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 am on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Clocks fall back one hour, so make sure to turn them back before you go to sleep Saturday night!
Delta Fire & Emergency Services would also like to remind residents to use this opportunity to change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors around their home. These alarms should be changed a minimum of twice a year (when the clocks chance in spring and fall) and tested monthly.
It is recommended by the International Association of Fire Chiefs that smoke alarms be replaced every ten years while carbon monoxide detectors should be replaced every seven years. Doing regular checks is an easy way to help prevent fire-related emergencies.
Stay Safe in the Darkness
Whether you are out biking, running, or walking, it's important to make yourself visibile to other pedestrians or vehicles on the road. Follow these tips to help keep yourself visible when out at night:
1. Wear bright gear to stand out to cars
2. Put reflective tape on shoes or other moving parts of the body to catch the driver's eye.
3. Use flashlights or headlamps
