As Acting Mayor for the week, Councillor Sylvia Bishop gave the Mayor's Announcements. 

National Police Week
Acting Mayor Bishop recognized National Police Week (May 10–16) and especially acknowledged and thanked Delta Police for their service and protection. As part of National Police Week, Delta Police invite the community to participate in Police Day on Friday, May 15, 10 am–6 pm, at Sungod Recreation Centre. The event includes emergency command vehicle tours, pipe band performances, and an appearance by Safety Bear. 

May 15, 2015 Pro D Day
This Friday, May 15, is the final Pro D Day of the year for students. Parks, Recreation & Culture staff have a number of fun registered programs and drop-in activities for students to take part in on their day off. Visit for a full list of activities. 

Victoria Day Long Weekend Hours of Operation
As it is Victoria Day long weekend coming up, Acting Mayor Bishop noted that Municipal Hall will be closed on Monday, May 18. For detailed facility hours of operation over the long weekend, visit As well, there will be no Council Meeting next week and the next Council Meeting will be on Monday, May 25, 2015 in North Delta. 

Ladner May Days
Acting Mayor Bishop highlighted the upcoming 119th Ladner May Days celebration on Friday, May 22–Sunday, May 24. The family-favourite event features live performances, carnival rides, a parade and more. Visit for further information. 


Fraser Basin Council
Council received a delegation from Fraser Basin Council presenting the organization’s Vision for Sustainability. View the presentation.


2014 Audited Financial Statements
Council received and approved the 2014 Consolidated Financial Statements, as prepared and audited in accordance with Canadian public sector accounting standards. View the staff report.

Fraser Surrey Direct Transfer Coal Facility Project
Council approved the staff recommendation that Mayor Lois E. Jackson send a letter to Port Metro Vancouver that requests that Port Metro Vancouver provide a minimum six-week review period if a permit amendment application for the Fraser Surrey Docks facility is received and that a Public Information Meeting be included in the consultation process.
