Special Presentation – Recognition of Community Banner Contest


Acting Mayor Bruce McDonald and Council recognized the winners of the City’s 2018 community banner contest: Savina Purewal, Dave Stevens and Gali Kenig. The winning entries each represent one of the three contest categories (Heritage, Discover Delta and Child & Youth). View the news release.

City Initiates Proposal for Additional Turf Field at Mackie Park


Council endorsed a public consultation process on a City proposal to transfer additional lands between the City and Delta School District. This process is being sought to facilitate the expansion of Mackie Park by adding a second turf field south of the existing turf field. View the staff report.

Council Order Amended re: Removal of Clothing Donation Bins


Council approved amendments to the Council Order endorsed at the January 14th Regular Meeting regarding the removal of clothing donation bins. The amendment exempts the removal of donation bins that meet specific safety criteria outlined by Council. View the staff memorandum.

2019 Proposed Committees of Council


Council endorsed the proposed 2019 Committees of Council and their terms of reference, along with the process of advertising for community membership. There will be a total of 11 Delta Committees in 2019. View the staff report.

Amendments to Delta’s Zoning Bylaw


Council gave first and second readings to an amendment of the Zoning Bylaw. Since the Zoning Bylaw was adopted in April 2018, a number of clarifications, corrections and additions have been identified, which are included in the proposed amendment bylaw. This bylaw has been referred to an upcoming Public Hearing. View the staff report.

Proposal for Craft Brewery in Southlands Village


Council gave first and second readings to several bylaws related to the development application to construct a craft brewery and a 200-seat restaurant within Southlands Village. The application is proposed as a new long-term location for the Four Winds Brewing Company, which currently operates in the Tilbury Industrial Area. The bylaws have been referred to an upcoming Public Hearing. View the staff report and details on this proposal.

Proposed 2019 Utility Tax Rates


Council gave three readings to bylaws that cover the costs for City water, sewer and garbage services for 2019. The proposed bylaws call for an increase in the flat rate utility bill by a total of $30 from $1,060 in 2018 to $1,090 for 2019. Over 50% of this increase is related to increased regional water and sewer rates from Metro Vancouver. View the staff report and presentation.

Early Budget Approval for 2019 Capital Plan Projects


Council approved the allocation of early funding for 18 Capital Plan projects for the 2019 calendar year. The early approvals allow staff to obtain more competitive pricing and maintain project schedules. Projects include the Neighbourhood Road Improvements Plan, synthetic turf field replacement at Holly Park, and accessibility upgrades at South Delta Rec Centre. City Partners with Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club for a New Playground at Grauer Park


Council approved a cost sharing agreement between the City and Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club to install a new natural playground at Ladner’s Grauer Park, near the outdoor lacrosse box. View the staff report.

Annual Community Festival Grants Awarded


Council approved two community festival grants for the annual Ladner Pioneer May Days (May 24-26) and North Delta Family Day (June 23) community celebrations. View the staff report.

Facility Rental Fee Grants Awarded for Dry Grad Events


Council approved facility rental fee waiver grants to the following local dry grad committees: North Delta Secondary School, Seaquam Secondary School and Delta Secondary School. View the staff report.
