Structure Fire – 5000 Block, 48 Ave, South Delta

  • Delta Fire received call for a first alarm 04:59.
  • Four apparatus dispatched plus Battalion Chief (16 personnel).
  • Tattoo shop was rolling out with fire on the street side when crews arrived on scene.
  • Residential suites above the Tattoo shop.
  • Incident command quickly upgraded to a second alarm adding an additional 3 apparatus (11 personnel).
  • Fire crews and Delta Police ensured all occupants were out and accounted for.
  • Two Delta Police Officers were sent to hospital with smoke inhalation and are expected to be released today.
  • No other injuries reported at this time.
  • Delta Fire crews did an incredible job confining the fire to the store of origin.
  • Only minor smoke damage was reported to suites above and neighbouring stores.
  • Fire struck within one hour
  • Fire and Police investigators are on scene.
  • Nothing to report on cause of fire at this time.
