Adult School Crossing Guard Program

Council approved a grant for the Delta School District to support the upcoming school year’s Adult School Crossing Guard Program. The program deploys adult crossing guards to crosswalks throughout Delta and is supported by the Transportation Technical Committee and the Delta School District Board of Education. City to Continue Support for Agricultural Initiatives

Council approved the provision of funding for agricultural initiatives in Delta, including local stewardship and education programs and a regional agricultural benefits study. Funding will support the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust's various programs and events, Project Pickle's local agri-literacy program, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University: Institute for Sustainable Food Systems' study to review activities in the regions Agricultural Land Reserve. City to Review Ways to Increase Groundwater Recharge

Council received a presentation from the Cougar Creek Streamkeepers (Streamkeepers) regarding suggestions for increasing groundwater recharge in Delta. Streamkeepers noted that the City currently has effective measures in place for infiltration and groundwater recharge; however, Council was supportive of the suggestions and requested that staff investigate ways that the City can do more to increase groundwater recharge. Support for the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society

Council unanimously agreed to support the Delta Firefighters’ Charitable Society by becoming a Gold Sponsor for the 7th Annual Harvest Festival taking place on Saturday, September 14. Funds raised by the Harvest Festival will go toward youth programs in Delta. Learn more about the 7th Annual Harvest Festival.
