Cool It! Climate Change Workshop Winners

Students from Beach Grove Elementary were awarded certificates of acheivement for being the 2019 Cool It! Climate Change Workshop winners. The program challenges students to commit to actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to work with their families to conserve energy. The winning classroom committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emmisions by 39.7 tonnes – congratulations!



Tour de Delta Update

Members from the Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission presented an update to Council regarding the 19th Tour de Delta. This year’s races will take place on Friday, July 5 in North Delta; Saturday, July 6 in Ladner; and Sunday, July 7 in Tsawwassen. Community festivals will take place at Richardson Elementary during the North Delta race and at Dennison Park during the Tsawwassen race. View the presentation.


Sport Court Improvement Project Update

Council approved the recommendation that staff move forward with the implementation of upgrades to Chalmers Park, Dennison Park, and Cromie Park. The proposed upgrades include constructing eight pickleball courts and two tennis courts in Chalmers Park, constructing four pickleball courts in Dennison Park, and resurfacing existing tennis courts to include pickleball court play lines in Cromie Park. Redevelopment of Ladner Willows

Council endorsed a recommendation that staff enter into the consultation process for the redevelopment of Ladner Willows, a Red Door Housing Society property. The redevelopment application proposes a four-storey non-market rental apartment building accommodating 136 housing units. View the staff report.


2018 Drinking Water Quality Update

Council received an update regarding the results of Delta’s 2018 Drinking Water Quality Report. Approximately 1,360 samples were taken from 34 sampling stations. The testing results met provincial requirements and high quality drinking water continues to be supplied to Delta residents. View the staff report.


Second Annual South Delta Bathtub Race and Festival

Council endorsed the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen’s request to allow the Royal Canadian Air Force to conduct a fly-by demonstration during the South Delta Bathtub Race and Festival. The second annual bathtub race is scheduled to take place on August 11, 2019 at Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen. View the staff report.


72 Avenue Roadway Improvements Project Update

Council received an update regarding the results of the Public Information Meeting held on May 23, 2019 for the 72 Avenue Roadway Improvements Project. The improved design will reduce traffic congestion along 72 Avenue and reduce the number of motorists cutting through residential neighbourhoods. Construction is anticipated to begin next year. 2018 Annual Report

Council approved the 2018 Annual Report, which includes audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2018. The report highlights departmental achievements and objectives. View the staff report.


Funding for REACH Child and Youth Development Society and Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC

Council unanimously approved the recommendation that the City enter into service agreements with REACH Child and Youth Development Society and Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC.
