Summary of Mayor’s Delegation to Ottawa

The Ottawa delegation, led by Mayor George V. Harvie, met with key federal government ministers and their senior staff from February 25 to 27, 2019 to discuss important issues for the community. Collaboration and funding opportunities were discussed in an effort to move forward with solutions for challenging issues. View the staff report.


2019 Boundary Bay Airshow

Council approved a series of recommendations regarding the organization of the 2019 Boundary Bay Airshow, which is scheduled to take place on July 20, 2019. The event will continue to offer free admission to all attendees and, for the first time ever, host the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Canadian F-18 Hornet Demonstration Team. A $10 fee will be charged per vehicle for parking at the airport, with priority being given to Delta residents to pre-purchase parking tickets. An option to park offsite for free and take a complimentary shuttle to the event will also be offered. View the staff report.

Live Streaming Question and Answer Period of Regular Meetings

Council approved the recommendation that the question and answer period held prior to Regular Meetings be live streamed and that the video be published to the City’s website for future viewing beginning May 6, 2019. Questions and comments must be related to the items on the agenda for that meeting. View the staff report.


WesPac Tilbury Marine Jetty Environmental Assessment

Council received an update on the environmental assessment process for the proposed WesPac Tilbury Marine Jetty and endorsed comments to be sent to the BC Environmental Assessment Office. WesPac Midstream-Vancouver LLC will be invited to provide a presentation on this project at a future Council meeting. View the staff report.


Delta Police Department School Liaison Program Update

Chief Constable Neil Dubord, Superintendent Harj Sidhu, and Constable Mike Atkinson presented an update to Council regarding the Delta Police Department School Liaison Program. The program works to build connections with Delta’s youth as a proactive community policing strategy. View the presentation.


Terms of Reference for Housing Action Plan

Council endorsed terms of reference to develop a Housing Action Plan for Delta. The plan will establish a strategic approach to increasing the diversity and affordability of housing in Delta in an effort to provide enhanced housing options. View the staff report.


Development Application for 37-Unit Townhouse Project at 5361, 5375, 5385 8A Avenue and 846 53A Street

Council gave first and second readings to a proposed development application to amend both the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaws to allow for the consolidation of four properties into one development site and the construction of 37 townhouse units. The proposal has been referred to the Public Hearing on May 27, 2019. View the staff report.


Contract Awarded for Accessibility Retrofit Project at South Delta Recreation Centre

Council approved a contract award to complete accessibility retrofit upgrades at the South Delta Recreation Centre. The upgrades include the installation of a full service elevator, washroom improvements, and the introduction of automated doors throughout the facility. View the staff report.


Contract Awarded for Design of North Delta Track and Field Facility

Council approved a contract award for engineering design services for the North Delta track and field facility. View the staff report.
