Westham Island Bridge Rehabilitation

As part of the Translink Maintenance and Repair Program, the Westham Island Bridge will undergo necessary rehabilitation work through spring 2019.

Please note that the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary will remain open to the public.

Vehicle Traffic
There will be overnight closures from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the following nights:

  • January 14 to 19
  • January 21 to 26
  • January 28 to February 2
  • February 4 to 9
  • February 11 to 16

There will be intermittent daytime closures on the following days:

  • January 28 to February 2

The maximum closure duration will be one hour, and the bridge will be opened to traffic for 20-minute periods between consecutive closures.

Marine Traffic
Marine passage below the bridge may be restricted when work occurs at the swing span.

Note: From January 18 to 25 the pedestrian crossing will be limited to 10-minute periods on the hour, every hour, between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

During the  closures, emergency vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists will be permitted to cross the bridge with the assistance of an escort. To learn more about the project and construction schedule, visit translink.ca/westham.
