Recreation 50+: Your October 2018 Guide

Our seniors recreation centres do a fantastic job of organizing a wide range of fun events and programs for young-at-heart Delta residents. 

Each month, we highlight a few of these events and programs in our Recreation 50+ updates. 

What's Happening in October

McKee Seniors Recreation Centre

*Please note McKee will be closed on Monday, October 8 for Thanksgiving.

Dancin' in the Country 
Saturday, October 13, 11 am – 3 pm
Hosted by Line Dance Instructors  Eliz Salikin and Dorothy Russel, you're invited to partake in a fun filled day of line and social dancing. Shake your boots to new and classic country music..Tickets are $7 at the Customer Service Desk or at the door. Cash concession available. 

South Delta Travel - Parq Casino Vancouver 
Saturday, October 18

Back by popular demand, enjoy a night out at the casino. For prices and information, please see the event boards or ask the Travel Desk at McKee on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Purchase your tickets before they sell out!

Family Fright Fest
Wednesday, October 24, 4–8 pm

Bring the whole family for a frightful evening filled with Trick or Treating, face painting, roaming rascals, games, crafts, hay rides, and much more!

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre

*Please note Kennedy will be closed on Monday, October 8 for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Lunch
Friday, October 5, 11 am - 1 pm

Enjoy a traditional turkey dinner, with all the fixings: white and dark mear, pecan-cranberry stuffing, honey-orange carrots, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Tickets are $10 in advance.  

A Second Chance at Love
Thursday, October 25, 7-9 pm

Rob Hebden will give a short talk on the photography process during a recent wedding. Stay for the 30 minute slide show, along with coffee and cookies, followed by a presentation of member's images from the last few months.Drop in fee of $1 applies. Coffee and cookies are also $1. 

Spooktacular Halloween Party
Saturday, October 27, 2 pm

Entertainer Michelle Carlisle performs at this seasonal afternoon party. Wear your costume, because there will be prizes for the best homemade, funniest, and weirdest attire. Plenty of games and activities to partake in, including the Monster Mash, Halloween Games, a 50/50 draw and door prizes. Tickets are $15 for members, $18.50 for guests. Tickets are on sale now.
