May 29, 2018

Delta, BC – Delta congratulates Mrs. Dobie and her grade 4/5 class at Gray Elementary for winning the BC Sustainable Energy Association’s Cool It! Climate Leadership Training Challenge.

This four-week competition involved the delivery of sustainability workshops to grade-school students across Delta. At the workshops, students learned about environmental impacts caused by human behavior and were encouraged to make changes to their energy consumption habits, both in the classroom and at home.

At the end of the competition, BC Sustainable Energy Association staff calculated the energy savings achieved by each classroom and designated Mrs. Dobie’s class as the winning class. In recognition of their achievements, Mrs. Dobie’s class won a pizza party and passes to Science World. A student from this same class also was also awarded a Green Science Kit for their outstanding environmental conservation efforts.

“Congratulations to Mrs. Dobie’s class for demonstrating excellence in their commitment towards reducing their carbon footprint”, said Mayor Lois E. Jackson, “the enthusiasm amongst these kids is inspiring and infectious.”
