Presentation of the 2018 Friends of Heritage Awards

In celebration of Heritage Week, Mayor Lois E. Jackson presented the 2018 Friends of Heritage Awards to the Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust and Grace Yan, Librarian at Gibson Elementary School. The Awards recognized the Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust’s commitment to preserving Delta’s rich Agricultural History and Ms. Yan’s involvement in educating students about our past.  Learn more about the award winners.

Proposed Neighbourhood Plan for the Townline Node

Council has directed staff to develop a mixed-use neighbourhood plan for the area between 92 Avenue to 96 Avenue along the Scott Road corridor (Townline Node). The plan is to accommodate a mix of residential, non-residential, and public spaces consistent with the North Delta Area Plan.


2018 Financial Plan 

Council adopted the City of Delta’s 2018 Financial Plan. View the staff report. 

Delta Zoning Bylaw

Council gave Third Reading to Delta Zoning Bylaw No. 7600, 2017. The current bylaw dates back to 1977 with various amendments from time to time. Final adoption of the bylaw will be brought to a future Council meeting. The update Zoning Bylaw will guide the development of the community for many years to come. View the staff report.


Consent Reports

Council approved several contract awards along with approvals for the three Community Festivals, Ladner May Days, North Delta Family Day, and Tsawwassen Sun Festival.


Update on Cannabis Regulation

Council received an update regarding the BC government’s regulatory regime for non-medical cannabis. Cannabis will be sold through a model of public (BC Liquor Stores) and private retail outlets. All private retailers will require local government approval. Delta’s Zoning Bylaw prohibits cannabis retail sales in Delta. View the staff report.  

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority Issues Update

Council received an update on Vancouver Fraser Port Authority projects and initiatives in Delta, including the status of Terminal 2, shoreline protection, truck staging, and more. View the staff report.

Community Banner Contest

Council approved a Community Banner Contest which now encompasses the previous historical banner contest. The contest will be open during April and May each year. View the staff report.
