Recreation 50+: Your August Guide

Take a look at what's in store for the young-at-heart during the month of June with the latest edition of Recreation 50+.

McKee Seniors Recreation Centre

Please note that McKee Seniors Recreation Centre will be closed for Annual Facility maintenance from Saturday, August 5 through Sunday, August 13. Also, Kee Café will be closed on August 22 until further notice. 

Friday Movie Club - Bond of Silence, The Unforgiven

Dates: August 4 & 18
Times: 4 pm
Price: Free!

What's better than watching a flick with your pals? Make your way to the McKee Lounge to watch a pair of great films and then stick around after to chat about what you watched. Light refreshments may be available at a nominal fee. On August 4 you can catch the 2010 film, Bond of Silence, and on August 18, witness the 1960 Audrey Hepburn classic, Word of Honor.

Diner's Club - Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl & Grill

Date: August 15
Times: 5:30 pm 

Come out and enjoy this unique and delicious fish and chips restaurant! Fish and chips not your thing? They have lots of other great menu items as well. Sign up at Customer Service Desk.  

Eclectic Café

Dates: August 26 

Times: 7 - 9 pm

Howard Solverson and guests take the stage for a relaxing evening of wonderful music. Bring your closest pals and enjoy a night to remember. 

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre

Please note that Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre will be closed on Monday, August 7 for the BC Day Holiday.  

Fort Langley/Krause Berry Farm

Date: Sunday, August 13
Time: Departure, 10 am/ Return 3 pm. 
Price: $18

Explore and wander through quaint cafés, unique gift shops and an artisan fair. Then, be whisked away to Krause's Berry Farm where blueberrie, blackberries and much more are in season. Tickets are available at the Customer Service Desk until Friday, August 4. ss

Dog Days of Summer

Date: Wednesday, August 16
Time: 1:30-3:30 pm
Tickets: $4

Celebrate the second annual Dog Days of Summer by hanging out with six local assistance and therapy dogs with their handlers. Enjoy tea, coffee and ice cream with fresh blueberries. Please purchase tickets by Friday, August 11.

Delta Seniors Bus Program

The Delta Seniors Bus Program provides transportation within North and South Delta to seniors aged 65 and over who have difficulty accessing public transit. For information on how you can take part in the program, please phone 604-353-6305. 

Smoking Bylaw Amendment 

Get some fresh air because Delta parks and open spaces are smoke-free! Smoking and tobacco products, including vaporizers, are not permitted within the areas of a park or any municipal land.
