Notice to Residents: Road Repaving and Agricultural Improvements

Jun 08, 2017

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
Road Repaving and Agricultural Improvements

Dear Resident,

As you may be aware, recent sewer installation work for the Southlands development, along with future storm main improvements along Boundary Bay Road, has left some roads in need of remediation. We have heard your concerns, and will be repaving the affected roads in two phases:

During construction, we will make every effort to minimize traffic delays and your inconvenience.

Delta will also be commencing activities to establish soil-based farming on a portion of the Delta owned agricultural properties of the Southlands, as shown in green on the map below.

A consultant has been hired to complete extensive clearing, drainage and irrigation improvements to this agricultural area. The improvements will help to enhance the agricultural capability of the lands, and you can expect to see planting of crops in the near future.

All improvements to the agricultural area are being paid for through the $9 million agricultural amenity payment from the developer, as negotiated by Delta. These are very exciting times – it is great to see the preservation and enhancement of agriculture in our community. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the proposed paving projects or agricultural improvements, please feel free to contact us at 604-946-4141, or online via Delta.ca/TalkDelta.
