Recreation 50+: Your June Guide

June kicks off in exciting fashion as we celebrate Seniors Week from from June 5 - 11! The sunshine couldn't have come at a better time. Take a look at what's in store for the young-at-heart during the month of June with the latest edition of Recreation 50+.

McKee Seniors Recreation Centre

Friday Movie Club - De-Lovely, The Snows of Kilimanjaro


Dates: June 2 & 16
Times: 4 pm
Price: Free!

What's better than watching a flick with your pals? Make your way to the McKee Lounge to watch a pair of great films and then stick around after to chat about what you watched. Light refreshments may be available at a nominal fee. On June 2 you can catch the 2004 Cole Porter biography film, De-Lovely, and on June 16 witness the 1952 film The Snows of Kilimanjaro.   

Jammers


Dates: June 8 & 22 Times: 7 pm

Price: $1 admission / $1 for refreshments

On the second and fourth Thursdays of the month make your way to McKee for an evening of music, dancing and light refreshments. If you can play an instrument, bring it along and join in the jammers.

The Kennedy Heights Actors Group comes to the stage for the first time to perform a collection of short, fun and thoughtful plays. Bring your friends to share the laughter. Plays include No frills Airlines, Generation Gap, Doctor's Visit, and Speaking My Mind.

June is Stroke Awareness Month

Translink Southwest Area Transport Plan

Translink is about to begin community engagement for Phase 2 of the Southwest Transport Area Plan.This sub‐regional plan helps establish a blueprint for transit and transportation in Richmond, South Delta and the Tsawwassen First Nation.

With engagement planned until June 19, Kennedy and all other Delta recreational facilities will be hosting a paper survey collection box for local residents. This paper survey will be available for those who may prefer to complete the survey in hard copy rather than online. A table will be set up at the entrance of Kennedy with copies of the survey and other information related to this initiative. 

Delta Seniors Bus Program

The Delta Seniors Bus Program provides transportation within North and South Delta to seniors aged 65 and over who have difficulty accessing public transit. For information on how you can take part in the program, please phone 604-353-6305. 

Smoking Bylaw Amendment 

Get some fresh air because Delta parks and open spaces are smoke-free! Smoking and tobacco products, including vaporizers, are not permitted within the areas of a park or any municipal land.
