Time to Change the Batteries in your Smoke Detector!

Mar 09, 2017

Spring Forward this Sunday! Change your clocks 1 hour ahead and change the batteries in your smoke detectors!

The most commonly cited cause of non-working smoke alarms continues to be worn out or missing batteries. Delta Fire & Emergency Services is reminding residents to change their smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries during daylight saving time.

Canada daylight saving time begins at 2 am on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

Changing alarm batteries a minimum of twice a year (when the clocks change in Spring and Fall), testing those alarms monthly, and reminding others to do the same are among the most effective ways of preventing fire-related injuries and deaths.
