Recreation 50+: Your February Guide

Keep up-to-date on some of the highlighted events and programs taking place at your fabulous seniors recreation centres this month! 

Please note that both Kennedy and McKee Seniors Recreation Centres will be closed on Family Day, Monday, February 13.

What's Happening in February

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre

– Valentine Tea –

Date: Saturday, February 11
Time: Doors 1:30 pm, Show 2 - 3 pm
Price: Member $10, Guests $15

The dynamic and talented singing group the Maple Leaf singers head to Kennedy for an afternoon of fantastic music. Enjoy their beautifully choreographed show as they perform a variety of music! An assortment of sandwiches and sweets will be served during the concert. Tickets are on sale until February 6..

– Diners Club – 

Date: Thursday, February 23 

Time: 11:30 am

Kennedy's Sports Pub has been bringing good times and great home-style food to North Delta since opening its doors in the spring of 1979. Join in for a delicious lunch with lots of laughs. To register, sign up at the front desk at Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre.  

– Starlight Casino Trip – 

Date: Saturday, February 25 

Time: 10 am - 2 pm
Price: Member $20, Guests $25 

Test your luck at the Starlight Casino! Leaving from the centre at 10 am, you can enjoy one of five tantalizing dining options, or take part in a full day of non-stop action and free live entertainment. Tickets will be on sale from February 6 through 21. 

McKee Seniors Recreation Centre

– Kee Philosophers –

Date: Friday, February 10 
Time: 1:30 pm 

Get deep into thought-provoking conversation with Kee Philosophers in the McKee Lounge. This month, Guillermo Bustos comes to the lounge to do a historical presentation. Don't miss out!

– Eclectic Cafe –

Date: Saturday, February 18, 
Time: 12:30 - 1 pm
Price: Members $4, Guests $6
  

Travel back to the 1960s with the Eclectic Cafe! Enjoy music from Howard Solverson in the style of a 60s Coffee House. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be available. Tickets can be purchased at the McKee Customer Service Desk. 

– Movie Club –

Date: Sunday, February 19
Time: 3 - 5 pm 

McKee Members are invited to join in Movie Club at Pioneer Hall. Enjoy the 1992 comedy Captain Ron, starring Kurt Russell and Martin Short. Short plays a family-man who hires Russell to sail a yacht through the Caribbean. Refreshments available for purchase.

Delta Museum: Volunteers Needed

Delta Museum is seeking School Program Presenter volunteers to help present to local elementary schools. If you have a keen interest in Delta's history, enjoy working children, have a passion for education, and have a flexible schedule, apply online at Delta.ca/Volunteers!        

Smoking Bylaw Amendment

Smoking and tobacco products, including vaporizers, are not permitted within the areas of a park or on any municipal land. Get some fresh air. Delta's parks and open spaces are smoke-free!

Snow Angels

Need some assistance clearing your sidewalks or driveway after all of the winter weather? Delta's Snow Angels Program is here to help! Snow Angels are matched with residents in their neighbourhood. If you, or someone you know, is over 65 years of age, lives in Delta, and would like to access the service or learn more about the program, please call Kennedy at 604‐594‐2717 or McKee at 604-946-1411.

South Delta Seniors Bus

If you or someone you know could use the South Delta Seniors Bus, there are lots of reasons why you should register! This is a free services that provides transportation within South Delta. It operates Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and is Wheelchair Accessible. For more information or to register, please call 604-358-8765.
