#MeetDeltaStaff Mohammed — Lifeguard, Swim Instructor & Olympic Athlete

Jul 14, 2016

You see us around Delta at Municipal Hall and recreation centres, at our beautiful parks, on the roads, and out at community events. We are the Corporation of Delta staff and we invite you to get to know us! Learn more about the people behind your local government with our #MeetDeltaStaff series.

First up...
the staff that keep you safe and having fun at Delta's pools!

We'll be featuring some of our aquatics staff over the summer months.

#MeetDeltaStaff Mohammed

Did you know Delta aquatics has an Olympic athlete in our midst? Lifeguard Instructor Mohammed teaches swim lessons and lifeguards at Sungod Recreation Centre. Before his passion for aquatics brought him to Delta, Mohammed was an Olympic athlete and competed in the 2004 Olympics in the men's 100 metre freestyle event!

As well as lifeguarding and teaching aquatics at Sungod, Mohammed swims competitively with the Winskill Otters Master Club and enjoys participating in swim competitions. He's swimming the Swim Across the Lake (Lake Okanagan) with four other Delta staff this Saturday! He's also an avid waterpolo player and plays goalie most of the time.

With his talent, skills and passion for aquatics, we are lucky to have Mohammed as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at Sungod Recreation Centre. Say hi when you see him lifeguarding or instructing next, and join us Mondays (Sungod) and Fridays (Winskill & Ladner Leisure Centre alternating) for our special Rio Olympic themed events, featuring the chance to race Mohammed on July 25 and August 22!
