Summer Reading Club begins! – All three Delta libraries
Book a Trip! Children, teens and adults can sign up for the 2016 Summer Reading Club at their local Delta Library beginning Saturday, June 11 and receive a fabulous free reading record.  As your record fills up throughout the summer, there are great prizes to win. Kids who complete their reading record will be eligible to receive a special Summer Reading club medal!

Passport to Summer Fun

Book a Trip in your own backyard! Pick up your passport at your local library. See how many of these fun activities and places you can explore as part of your Summer Reading Club fun.

Delta Animal Shelter Meet and Greet

Are you interested in adopting a dog or cat, or even a rabbit or guinea pig? Come on down and hang out with a knowledgeable staff member from the Delta Community Animal Shelter, meet some of our adoptable animals, and learn more about what adoption entails. Adopting a homeless animal in need can be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences. This seminar will go through the different steps that are recommended to properly prepare for your new furry friend, as well as things you can now participate in together! Embarking on this adventure is always a good idea, and will not only enrich your life but that of a deserving animal in need! Everyone welcome!

Pyjama Storytime
Tuesdays, July 5 – August 9, 6:30 – 7 pm – Ladner Pioneer Library
Tuck into a story! Children and caregivers will be entertained with stories, songs, rhymes and more. Kids are encouraged to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite stuffie.  Storytime prepares children to learn to read.

Vancouver Aquarium AquaVan: Journey to Canada’s North
Thursday, July 21, 2 – 2:45 pm – Ladner Pioneer Library
This program will discuss feeding strategies used by animals living on land and in the ocean as well as some aspects of life for people living in Canada’s North. Animal skulls and furs will be shown as well as some live intertidal animals from BC’s coast, such as sea stars, crabs and sea urchins.  All children will be given a coupon for free entry to the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre with a paying adult.
 
Vancouver Aquarium AquaVan: Explore British Columbia’s Coast
Thursday, July 21, 11 – 11:45 am – Tsawwassen Library
Wednesday, July 27, 11 – 11:45 am – George Mackie Library

This program will discuss the kelp forest ecosystem along BC’s coast, demonstrating how all animals, no matter how small, have an important part to play in an ecosystem. Artifacts include sea otter fur and skull, abalone shell, killer whale jaw and more. Live animals include sea urchin, sea stars and crab or hermit crab.  All children will be given a coupon for free entry to the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre with a paying adult.
 
Special Saturday Storytime
