Soap Box Derby

On Saturday, June 4, the Corporation of Delta, in association with Tsawwassen Rotary Club, will be hosting Delta’s Inaugural Soap Box Derby. The race will feature young drivers between the ages of 9 and 12 as they race along 6 Avenue in Tsawwassen in cars sponsored by local businesses. This thrilling event gets underway at 10 am, and is bound to have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Access to 6 Avenue will be unavailable from 7:30 am until 3 pm. Vancouver Landfill Open House 

If you’re looking for other ways to spend your weekend, the Vancouver Landfill is hosting an Open House between 10 am and 2 pm on Saturday, June 4th. There are plenty of family-friendly activities at this free event, including a guided bus tour, trained hawks and other members of the Bird Control team, the chance to sit in a bulldozer or compactor, plant potting, and of course a giant sandbox for the kids to play in! Enjoy some free refreshments and cake while you learn about the Vancouver Landfill. Visit for more information.   

Seniors Week

From June 6 through 12, the Corporation of Delta is taking the time to show appreciation to the young-at-heart as part of Seniors Week 2016. Delta recreation facilities will be hosting a variety of events to mark the occasion, including pickle ball, volleyball, and bridge tournaments; BC Seniors Games Cribbage Playoffs; and the Singers Country Concert at Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre on June 12 to cap off a fun-filled week. Noise Variance for BC Ferries

Delta Council approved BC Ferries’ request for relief from enforcement of Delta Noise Control Bylaw No. 1906, 1972. The request will provide BC Ferries the opportunity to pave the foot passenger drop off entrance, drop trailer entrance, holding compound and the south exit lanes at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. The relief will be granted between the hours of 5 pm and 7 am, Monday to Saturday, between May 31, 2016 and June 10, 2016.
