Need to get rid of an old mattress? Remember to recycle it!

Mar 29, 2016

Over 160,000 mattress units are recycled each year in the Metro Vancouver region. Unfortunately, an additional 12,000 mattress are also abandoned each year. Collecting these abandoned mattresses costs the region almost $600,000 a year.

Delta's Mattress Recycling Voucher program allows residents to take up to two mattress units to the Vancouver Landfill for recycling for FREE.

How to get a free mattress recycling voucher:

  • Apply for vouchers in person at the Delta Municipal Hall (Engineering Department) or at the North Delta Recreation Centre.
  • Proof of residency is required. The individual applying for the voucher must be a resident of Delta and must be present at the Vancouver Landfill in order to use the voucher (photo ID required).
  • Vouchers are non-transferable.
  • Vouchers are only valid for the calendar year in which the application was made.
  • One voucher is issued per eligible household each year. Eligible households are properties that pay a single-family or secondary suite garbage and recycling utility, or a multi-family recycling utility.
