What's Happening at Delta Libraries February 21 – 27

Throughout the Winter and Spring there are incredible events taking place at Delta's libraries. From game nights and English conversation sessions, to storytime and book clubs, there is something for everyone!

Ladner Pioneer Library

Sitting and Stitching
Mondays until April 25, 6:30–8:30 pm

Do you want to learn how to knit or crochet? Are you an avid knitter, crocheter, quilter or weaver who wants to meet others and get inspiration or help? Drop in for an evening of crafting fun!

Next Chapter Book Club
Tuesdays until May 31, 1:45–2:45 pm

The Next Chapter Book Club offers a weekly opportunity for adults with differing abilities to read and learn together, talk about books, make friends, and have fun in a relaxed community setting.

Pyjama Storytime
Tuesdays until May 24, 6:30–7 pm

Tuck into a story! Children and caregivers will be entertained with stories, songs, rhymes and more. Kids are encouraged to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite stuffie. Storytime prepares children to learn to read.

Storytime
Wednesdays until May 25, 10:30–11 am

Introduce kids to the love of books and language with Storytime! Children and caregivers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, rhymes and more. Storytime prepares children to learn to read.

Conversation Circle: Practice Your English
Wednesdays until May 25, 7–8:30 pm

If you are learning English and want to practice speaking with other people in a friendly, casual place, then join us for weekly guided discussions about Canadian culture, food and current events.

Babytime
Thursdays until May 26, 10:30–11 am

Make language fun! Start early with Babytime. Help your baby develop speech and language skills – enjoy bouncing, singing, rhyming and stories. Babytime is a fun, social bonding activity for babies AND caregivers.

LEGO® Club
Fridays until March 18, 3:30–4:30 pm

Love LEGO®? We provide the LEGO®, you bring your imagination! Come play, create, and experiment. LEGO® Club is a fun afternoon program for kids. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

Arthritis Series – Managing Chronic Pain
Monday, February 29, 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Improve your understanding of the principles of pain management and its treatments, explore different methods to cope with chronic pain and learn how to take an active role in your own pain management. Remember, "No pain, no gain" doesn't apply when you have arthritis!

Wired Wednesdays
Wednesdays until March 9, 9:15–10 am

Get comfortable using the Internet. This drop-in, hands-on class is open to everyone.

2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, 10:30–12 pm

Advanced English Conversation & Accent Reduction
Tuesdays until March 15, 1–3 pm

Advanced English training for newcomers who want to improve their accent reduction, practice conversation skills and gain confidence with speaking in public. Held in partnership with the Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS) with funding from the Delta Literacy Committee. Register with PICS by calling 604-596-7722.

Settlement Workers – Mandarin/English
Wednesdays, 1–5 pm

Are you a newcomer to Canada who needs help adjusting to your new life? Free and confidential services are offered to help newcomers during the process of settling into their community. Settlement and Integration Services are free for immigrants, refugees and their families in BC. Valid Permanent Resident (PR) card should be presented at the time of service. Canadian Citizens and Temporary Foreign Workers will be referred to Options Settlement Service office. Funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Check out some artifacts from the Delta Museum & Archives Society at your local library! Curator Darryl MacKenzie has carefully selected objects from their collection to showcase. He will be happy to answer any of your questions about these artifacts, the rest of the Museum's collection and Delta's history.

Teen Night:  Pizza and Games
Tuesdays, February 23, March 22, April 26, 5–7 pm

Do you love to play board games? Are you between 12 and 19 years old? Then come to the library for a fun night of gaming and free pizza. Games and snacks provided by Imperial Hobbies.
