Delta Police is Seeking a Deputy Chief Constable

The Delta Police Department (DPD) is seeking a value-based leader with extensive experience to assume the role of Deputy Chief Constable for the Corporation of Delta.


The Deputy Chief role is focused on achieving results, which are aligned with the Vision, Mission, and strategic goals of the Delta Police Department. Initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this role.

The Deputy Chief Constable is accountable to the Chief Constable and is responsible for providing leadership to various parts of the organization. The Deputy will play a key role on the Senior Leadership Team and will command the Administration Division, which includes Human Resources, Finance, Emergency Planning, Information Services and IT, in addition to providing oversight to the integrated teams. As part of his/her responsibilities they will work closely with the Police Board, the Corporation of Delta Management Team and various stakeholders to maintain the DPD’s role as a partner in the community. Flexibility and adaptability to assume other roles will be essential.

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished senior policing career and must bring at a minimum 10 years of police leadership. A demonstrated focus on stakeholder involvement and community partners, as well as demonstrated abilities to build outstanding relationships, both internally and externally, is essential. A hallmark of success will be the candidate’s best in class reputation as an inclusive, trusted leader known for developing a shared vision within a police service where a collaborative environment has been created and sustained. Strong innovative planning skills, an understanding of labour relations, a career of varied operational policing experience plus a track record of effective leadership will be required for an individual to qualify for consideration.

Undergraduate or graduate degrees will be considered an asset in addition to professional designations such as Canadian Human Resource Professional or legal training.
