Our seniors recreation centres do a fantastic job of organizing a wide range of fun events and programs for young-at-heart Delta residents.
Each month, we highlight a few of these events and programs in our Recreation 50+ updates.

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre
*Please note Kennedy will be closed on Friday, January 1 for New Years Day.
African Photography: An Exotic Evening
Thursday, January 14, 7 pm
The Photography Interest Group brings you a discussion & photography presentation by Allen Bargan, featuring pictures of exotic animals taken on his travels in Africa. The presentation takes place at the café and lasts two hours, with a break for refreshments at 8 pm. The cost is $3 plus the stamping of your Kennedy membership punch card.
Bus Trip: Honeybee Centre in Surrey Advance Care Planning: Think, Learn, Choose, Talk & Record
Saturday, January 16, 10:30 am–2 pm (please arrive at Kennedy at least 15 minutes early)
Learn the A Bee Cs of honeybees! How is honey made? Why does the queen feast on royal jelly? What is the secret of the waggle dance? Visit the presentation centre for some hands-on activities, watch the live observation hive and taste the honey. Visit the Country Store for some bee-utiful gifts, and have lunch at Fry's Corner Beestro.
Members $25 / Guests $30
Tickets will be on sale from January 4 to 14 and include the cost of the tour. Lunch is on your own.
Thursday, January 21, 1–3 pm
This workshop was so well received last fall that we've invited Cari Hoffmann back for a more in-depth, two-hour session. Planning ahead before a health crisis is something we should all do, and you are invited to learn about the process at this FREE seminar! Light refreshments included. Please pre-register at the Front Desk by January 15.

NEW Program at McKee: Chair Yoga
Wednesdays, 11:15 am–12:15 pm
January 6 – March 30 (13 sessions)
Chair Yoga is a form of yoga done seated or standing using a chair for support. It offers a practical way to gain the benefits of yoga regardless of fitness level, and it can be practiced by individuals with joint issues or age-related conditions. Instructor: Monica Wong

BIG QUIZ Trivia Night at KinVillage
Saturday, January 23, 7 pm
Test your general knowledge! Put together a McKee team to enter into the BIG QUIZ Trivia Night at KinVillage (5430 10 Ave, Tsawwassen). Teams of 4 will compete to answer questions on topics ranging from Canada and geography to movies and history, to determine who has the best all-around knowledge!
Entry Fee is $20 per team. Call 604-943-6338 for more details and to enter your team! Let us know at the Customer Service Desk if you're putting in a McKee team.
The Snow Angels is a Corporation of Delta program which matches seniors who are unable to clear snow from driveways and/or sidewalks, with volunteers who want to help out. Volunteers are matched with residents in their neighbourhood. If you, or someone you know, is over 65 years of age, lives in Delta, and would like to access the service or learn more about the program, please call Kennedy at 604‐594‐2717 or McKee at 604-946-1411.
