United Way

Delta’s annual United Way campaign is back. This year’s campaign is geared towards raising funds for a Community School Coordinator, who will establish programs to help address children who come to school hungry, don’t come to school at all, or have low literacy rates. This initiative will be able to provide nutritional supplements where necessary, create activities and mentorship opportunities for school-aged children. The Workplace campaign runs through October 30.

Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association Municipal Long Service Medal – Ken Davie

Mayor Jackson and Delta Council presented retired volunteer Fire Chief, Ken Davie, with the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association Municipal Long Service Medal. The medal honours volunteer firefighters or firefighters that provide at least 30 years of service to their communities without payment of regular wages or as a non-career firefighter. In that time, Ken has performed duties that involve potential risks, selflessly giving his time, effort and personal safety to protect others. Congratulations Chief Davie, you’ve made the citizens of Delta proud.
