Stage 1 Water Restrictions Have Ended

Metro Vancouver has lifted all water restrictions.
This concludes the current implementation of the Water Shortage Response Plan, which was designed to manage the demand for drinking water in emergencies and to accommodate the summer heat.
Thanks to the water conservation programs in Metro Vancouver, there has been a 27% decline in per-capita water use since 1993. Metro Vancouver is taking the lessons learned this season and evaluating the Water Shortage Response Plan to make improvements and mitigate impacts in the future.
The Corporation of Delta would like to applaud residents and business throughout the region for abiding by the restrictions imposed during the Water Shortage Response Plan. Within 48 hours of implementing Stage 3 restrictions, collectively, we never used more than 1.2 billion litres of water per day.
Most years, Metro Vancouver activates Stage 1 of the Water Shortage Response Plan, regardless of weather conditions, June 1 to Sept 30.
