October 5, 2015 Council Meeting Highlights
Oct 07, 2015
Fire Prevention Week
From October 4 through 10, Delta is participating in Fire Prevention Week. This year’s campaign is called “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep”, highlighting the importance for residents to install working smoke detectors in every bedroom and on every level of their home. This gives families ample opportunity to ensure their safety in case of an emergency. For more information, please visit Delta.ca.
On October 15, at 10:15 am, thousands of people across BC will take part in the Great British Columbia Shakeout. This annual event encourages residents, schools, organizations, and communities to review and update their earthquake and emergency procedures while also providing the opportunity for people to practice their “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” technique. For information on how to register, please visit Delta.ca.
Harvest Day takes place at the Harris Barn on Saturday, October 10 from noon until 3 pm. Don’t forget to bring your camera to this family-friendly event! There will be lots of activities for children, vendors selling treats for Thanksgiving, information booths, and a seed saving workshop with Kristin Crouch. For more information, please visit Delta.ca.
Agricultural Adaptation Project
Delta’s identity has always been directly linked to agriculture, blending together urban and rural landscapes. To promote agriculture and educate Delta residents about the challenges Delta farmers are facing, The Corporation of Delta has launched Delta.ca/Agriculture. Delta Smoking Regulation Bylaw Proposed Amendment
Council approved amendments to the Delta Smoking Regulation Bylaw No. 5891, 2001, prohibiting smoking in public parks and open spaces.
