Our seniors recreation centres do a fantastic job of organizing a wide range of fun events and programs for young-at-heart Delta residents.
Each month, we highlight a few of these events and programs in our Recreation 50+ updates.
What's Happening in September
McKee Seniors Recreation Centre
*Please note McKee will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labour Day.
Annual Open House
Saturday, September 12, 10 am – 2 pm
Check out our facility and experience our programs! There will be demonstrations, information kiosks, facility tours, door prizes, bingo, food, and more. This is free and everyone is welcome to come.
The Arts Centres Celebrate Culture Days
Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27
The Arts Centres in Delta are hosting a variety of events in celebration of Culture Days! Drop in to satisfy all of your artistic desires, including arts and crafts, an open house, a concert, or even preform at an open mic! All events are free.
Fall Fashion Show & Luncheon
Friday, September 25, 12 pm
Don’t miss this annual even that always sells out! Hosted by Gail McEwan, the fashion show returns to promote clothing from the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. Lunch will be a salmon or chicken on a fresh salad, bun, dessert, tea or coffee. Members: $9 Guests: $11.
Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre

Olde Harvest Fair at Stewart Farms Trip
Saturday, September 19 11:30 am – 3:30 pm
Celebrate the harvest at the Historic Stewart Farms fall event! Tour the farm’s heritage orchard, learn about historic apples, enjoy live music, and watch Surrey’s own re-enactment troupe, The Re-enactors, as they bring the true stories of 1872 to 1945 to life. The bus leaves at 11:30 am. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the local food bank. Cost: Members $20, Guests $25.
Diabetes Self-Management Program
Tuesdays, 10:30 am – 3 pm
Starting September 22, this free, six-week workshop is aimed at helping people with diabetes to better manage their symptoms and their daily lives. All adults experiencing Type 2 Diabetes as well as their family, friends and caregivers are welcome to attend. Participants must pre-register at the Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre front desk.
Modified Boot Camp
Mondays/Wednesdays, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Starting September 14, Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre is offering a new program tailored to the younger 50+ group. This program involves little to no extra equipment and incorporates cardio, toning, strength and stretching. Come enjoy this program designed for a fun, effective, and safe workout. Calling all Knitters & Crocheters
Click your knitting needles and crochet hooks together and help prevent infant abuse! Help us knit or crochet PURPLE newborn baby caps which will be given to babies in BC hospitals and public health units throughout the month of November. Patterns are available at the Front Desk of Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre. October 2, 2015, is the cut-off date for completed caps. For more information, please contact Franca at the Front Desk.
