Delta Fire to Provide Enhanced Emergency Medical Response in Delta

2014 Leader in Sustainability Award
Mayor Lois E. Jackson noted the Corporation of Delta is once again proud to be named a Leader in Sustainability by Call2Recycle.
Tour de Delta $50K Grant
Mayor Lois E. Jackson noted the federal announcement of a $50,000 Hosting Grant from Sport Canada for the upcoming Tour de Delta event (July 10–12).
Delta Fire Open Houses
Delta Fire is hosting two open houses on Saturday, June 20, at Firehall #1, and Saturday, June 27, at Firehall #3. The open houses are a great opportunity to meet your local fire department, see fire trucks and apparatus, and learn about fire and emergency services.
Delta Gymnastics Playbox
On Saturday, June 20, Delta Gymnastics will unveil the new Playbox in conjunction with Canada’s ParticipACTION Longest Day of Play.
Delta Fire Ban
Mayor Jackson noted that, due to the hot, dry weather, the fire ban is in effect and Delta Fire has set the Fire Danger Rating to high. Please be aware of your surroundings and ensure you are being fire safe.
Cemetery Planning Survey
Be a part of the planning process for the future of the North Delta and Boundary Bay cemeteries by providing your input to the Cemetery Planning Surveys, open until June 26.
Proposed Hydro Power Lines and Towers for FortisBC Liquefied Natural Gas Expansion Project at 7410 Tilbury Road
Council approved recommendations made by the Agricultural Advisory Committee requesting FortisBC and BC Hydro pursue alternate routes and locations for the proposed hydro power lines and towers on farms along 68 Street, which would accommodate FortisBC’s liquefied natural gas expansion project at 7410 Hopcott Road. 2014 Drinking Water Quality Report
Council received the 2014 Drinking Water Quality Report, which is provided in accordance with the BC Drinking Water Protection Act and the BC Drinking Water Protection Regulation. In 2014, staff conducted over 1,800 water sample tests obtained from 34 testing stations throughout Delta. Based on test results, Delta’s drinking water met the provincial requirements as outlined in the Drinking Water Protection Regulation. View the staff report.
Pattullo Rehabilitation Project
Council received a report providing information on the planned rehabilitation of the Pattullo Bridge in 2016/2017 and approved the staff recommendation that TransLink negotiate with the Province for a Port Mann Bridge toll reduction or exemption for the duration of the Pattullo Bridge project. Rezoning, Development Variance Permit, Development Permit and Subdivision Application at 4875, 4889, 4901 47A Avenue and 4770 48B Street
Council approved a request from the property owner to waive the six month re-application period to allow a new development application to be submitted for the properties at 4875, 4889, 4901 47A Avenue and 4770 48B Street. The request would allow submission of a new application for the Village Walk townhouse development that addresses issues raised by Council and the public. View the staff report.
