3rd Annual Delta Trades & Technical Career Fair a Great Success!

May 06, 2015

On Thursday, April 30, more than 3,500 students, teachers, parents, and members of the public attended the third annual Delta Trades & Technical Career Fair at Sungod Recreation Centre in North Delta.

“Every year I am so thrilled to see the number of youth and young adults getting inspired by the hands-on exhibits at the Career Fair,” said Mayor Lois E. Jackson. “This event offers a unique opportunity for people in Delta to experience firsthand the benefits of working in the trades and technical industries.”

The Career Fair began in 2013 as the result of Mayor Jackson’s vision to inspire students and others in the community to pursue exciting, rewarding, and lucrative careers in trades and technology areas. Since 2013, the event has grown from 50 exhibits and 2,500 attendees to over 90 exhibits and 3,500 attendees in 2015. This growth is a testament to the event’s success and the importance of encouraging young people to pursue trades and technical careers.

The day and evening of career exploration is made possible by a strong partnership between The Corporation of Delta, the Delta School District, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Vancouver Community College, and dozens of employers and industry organizations.
