Our seniors recreation centres do a fantastic job of organizing a wide range of fun events and programs for young-at-heart Delta residents. 

Each month, we highlight a few of these events and programs in our Recreation 50+ updates. 

What's Happening in May


McKee Seniors Recreation Centre

*Please note McKee is closed Monday, May 18 for Victoria Day 

Move for Health Day
Friday, May 8, all day 
Plan to step out and get moving! We'll be highlighting our fitness and dance classes all day in celebration of international Move for Health Day. Each class has a prize draw, so join in and MOVE for a chance to win!

Diner's Club: Big River Brew Pub
Tuesday, May 12, 5:30 pm 
Enjoy a hearty meal with friends at the Big River Brew Pub: #180 - 14200 Entertainment Blvd, Richmond (next to the Old Spaghetti Factory). Open menu. For more information or to sign up, please visit the Customer Service Desk.

Creative Writing Club
Wednesdays, 1–3 pm
Explore your inner writer, tell your own story to share with family and friends, or brush up on wordsmithing at the Creative Writing Club. At our weekly meetings we give quick exercises and provide feedback and encouragement for your stories, prose, or poetry. All skill levels welcome!

Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre

Bus Trip: George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary
Saturday, May 23, 10:30 am–2:30 pm 
Spend the day out in nature! Itinerary: lunch at the Town & Country Hotel in Ladner, bird watching at the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary, then a short stop at the Westham Island Estate Winery. Cost: Members $20/Guests $25 (includes admission to the Bird Sanctuary, but does not include lunch).

Introduction to Pole Walking
Friday, May 22, 1–2:30 pm 

Here's your chance to learn the basics of using walking poles and balance poles. Please preregister for this FREE introduction at Kennedy's front desk by Friday, May 15.

Disability Tax Credit Seminar
Tuesday, May 26, 1–2 pm
This is one of the most commonly missed and valued tax credits. Get the facts about whether you or a family member may qualify and, if so, how to make your claim. Please preregister for this FREE seminar at Kennedy's front desk by Tuesday, May 19.
