Delta Hospital Support
Mayor Lois E. Jackson informed that on Thursday, April 23, she and Chief Bryce Williams from the Tsawwassen First Nation signed a joint letter of support for Delta Hospital. The letter, addressed to The Honourable Terry Lake, Minister of Health, urges the Province to take immediate steps to address the service level shortfalls at Delta Hospital. View the letter.

Delta Triathlon Winners
Mayor Lois E. Jackson congratulated the Delta Triathlon winners and all participants.

#TalkDelta Municipal Open Houses
Mayor Jackson expressed her pleasure with the three #TalkDelta Municipal Open Houses recently held in Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta. The event was a success with more than 1,000 attendees and much positive feedback. 

Delta Trades & Technical Career Fair
The 3rd annual Delta Trades & Technical Career Fair is this Thursday, April 30, 9 am–8 pm, at Sungod Recreation Centre. With approximately 100 hands-on exhibits, there are more careers to explore than ever before. Mayor Jackson will be at the event and encourages all ages to come out to discover careers in trades and technical industries. 

Free Residential Pesticide Drop-off Day
Delta is hosting Free Residential Pesticide Drop-off Day this Saturday, May 2. Items can be dropped off at the Engineering Operation Works Yard parking lot from 9am–1 pm. Visit for details.

Emergency Preparedness Week
Emergency Preparedness Week is coming up May 3–9, 2015. On Monday, May 4, visit Harris Barn in Ladner from 4:30–8 pm to see what it’s like to experience an earthquake with Quake Cottage, a mobile earthquake simulator.


Day of Mourning
Council received a delegation from Chrystal Latham, New Westminster & District Labour Council, who gave a presentation regarding “National Day of Mourning for Workers Killed and Injured on the Job,” which is on Tuesday, April 28. Council observed one minute of silence in recognition.

Vancouver Airport Authority
Council received a delegation from Vancouver Airport Authority regarding Vancouver Airport initiatives and activities.

MK Delta Lands
Council received a delegation from Joanne Barnett, President, MK Delta Lands Group, to discuss the new application from MK Delta Lands Group for the property at 7969 Highway 91 Connector to permit a 10-lot industrial subdivision. Council approved the consultation process outlined by staff, in accordance with Section 879 of the Local Government Act in relation to the proposed Official Community Plan amendment. 2015 Financial Plan
Council approved the 2015 Financial Plan, and approved that the Delta 2015 to 2019 Financial Plan Bylaw No. 7413, 2015 and the Development Cost Charge Reserve Funds Expenditure Bylaw No. 7414 be given first, second and third readings. View the staff report.

2015 Annual Tax Rate Bylaws
Council approved that first, second and third readings be given to Delta Annual Rates and Tax Collection (Municipal) Amendment Bylaw No. 7427, Delta Annual Rates and Tax Collection Amendment Bylaw No. 7428, and Tsawwassen Business Improvement Area Rates Bylaw No. 7429. View the staff report.


Ottawa Delegation Review
On March 23–25, 2015, Mayor Lois E. Jackson, Councillor Ian L. Paton, Delta CAO George V. Harvie, and Fire Chief Dan Copeland travelled to Ottawa to meet with federal ministers and senior bureaucrats to discuss Delta issues and further our municipality’s interests. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Canada Post, and Ottawa Fire Services staff. View the staff report for a complete summary of meetings.

Tilbury Access Road Project
Council approved that an application for funding of $2 million be submitted to the Asia-Pacific Gateway & Corridor Transportation Infrastructure Fund to undertake Tilbury area road improvements to enhance transportation efficiencies for commercial traffic. View the staff report.

Gateway Transportation Collaboration Forum
Council received a report for information regarding the initial submission of possible Asia Pacific Gateway goods movement projects, submitted by the Steering Committee of the Gateway Transportation Collaboration Forum. View the staff report.
