Happy World Wetlands Day Delta!

Feb 02, 2015

Participate in World Wetlands Day by getting your gumboots wet exploring Delta's many environments, including wetlands!

A wetland is any area that holds water either temporarily or permanently and can be a bog, fenn, swamps, marsh or open shallow waters. All wetlands provide a variety of benefits ranging from freshwater supply, food and building materials, and biodiversity, to flood control, groundwater recharge, and climate change mitigation.

Delta is home to many wetlands including the South Arm Marshes and Burns Bog (Delta Nature Reserve). Delta's Burns Bog is a type of wetland called a raised bog. Visit Burns Bog's web page for more information on its history, protection & restoration, and more!
