North Delta Recreation Centre Expansion Project Progress
Jan 16, 2015
If you've visited the North Delta Recreation Centre recently, you have noticed the expansion project is really beginning to take shape!
The structural steel over the gymnasium has been erected, main floor concrete has been poured, and the construction of the new building that wraps around the outdoor pool has begun. In February, look for the fitness centre on the second floor.
As part of the expansion, updates to the outdoor pool include new mechanical systems, fully accessible and family-friendly change rooms, and a large grassy space inside the pool area.
Did you know? The expansion includes solar panels to preheat domestic hot water, which will heat water for the recreation centre and the outdoor pool.
The much-anticipated 28,000 square foot expansion includes a gymnasium, 6,000 square foot fitness centre, expanded North Delta municipal business centre, and art and recreation spaces. The project commenced in July 2014 and is expected to be complete in fall 2015.

During construction, the only accessible entrance is through the main entrance of the recreation centre in the north-west parking lot. There is no vehicle drop-off route at the south side of the building and the doors adjacent to the arena are not in service. View the Construction Site Map.
Note: The North Delta Recreation Centre, artSpace, Firehall Centre for the Arts and North Delta Outdoor Pool will remain open during regular hours throughout construction.
