Dec 22, 2014

2015 Garbage and Recycling Calendar

Delta's 2015 Garbage and Recycling Calendar will be mailed out in mid-January. Calendars will also be available at any Delta recreation centre and Delta Municipal Hall.

If you have questions regarding the holiday collection schedule or 2015 calendars, please contact the Engineering Department at 604-946-3260 or by email.

2015 Metro Vancouver Organics Disposal Ban

In 2015, Metro Vancouver is implementing an organics disposal ban to encourage food scraps recycling. Municipalities across the Lower Mainland, including Delta, support the initiative and are working with Metro Vancouver to make sure residents and businesses are informed.

Food scraps recycling takes waste out of our landfills, reduces our methane contribution, and creates compost and bioenergy. By separating your food scraps from garbage, you will be contributing to a healthier, more sustainable environment.

How to Recycle Food Scraps

With Delta's successful Green Can program already in place, the transition to food scraps recycling is easy. If you receive curbside garbage and recycling collection from Delta, pick up your free Green Can sticker from any recreation facility and start reducing your garbage today.

Live in a condo or apartment, or own a business in Delta? Visit Metro Vancouver's website for more information about how the ban affects you. You can also contact the Recycling Council of BC at 604-RECYCLE (732-9832) and speak with someone about what you can do.
