Please be advised: upcoming traffic disruption in Ladner due to Sewage Repairs
Thursday, December 4, 2014 9 am–3:30 pm
Central Ave closed southbound at Linden Drive – local traffic only
On the evening of Sunday, November 9, 2014, Delta’s Engineering crews responded to a sewer blockage that occurred in the main sewer line leading to Ladner’s Manor North Pump Station.
Three temporary pumps have been deployed to manage the flows until permanent repairs have been completed. In order to manage the sewage flows, these temporary pumps must operate around the clock; therefore impacting neighbourhood noise levels for the time being. We are currently investigating whether the temporary pumps can be replaced with electrical pumps to reduce noise impacts on the neighbourhood.
Due to the complicated nature of this sewer pump station’s infrastructure, permanent repairs of the sewage line are expected to take at least a couple of weeks. This infrastructure is located approximately 12 to 14 feet below ground and requires replacement, along with a detailed de-watering process, in order to comply with WorkSafeBC standards. Engineering crews are working hard to determine a timeline for repairs and will provide a further update as soon as the timeline is established.
We appreciate your patience during this temporary disruption. We are making every effort to have the sewer blockage permanently repaired as soon as possible, in order to alleviate impacts to your neighbourhood.
Should you experience any sewage issues and require immediate assistance, or for further information, please contact the Engineering Department directly at 604-946-3260.
