Solar Energy Generates Sustainability at Ladner Leisure Centre
Sep 18, 2014
Did you know? As part of Delta's Solar Hot Water Project, this summer Ladner Leisure Centre switched to cleaner energy with the installation of solar collector tubes.
The evacuated solar collector tubes provide a source of heat for the facility and pool, producing an estimated 336 gigajoules (GJ) of clean energy each year. That is enough energy to heat the water needed for 28,000 eight-minute showers!
Solar energy collectors have also been installed at Ladner Outdoor Pool, and will be installed at North Delta Outdoor Pool as part of the North Delta Recreation Centre Expansion.
Funding for these sustainable projects was made possible by grants from the Federal Gas Tax Innovations Fund and Solar BC.
