Delta Waives Fees for Elliott Street Wharf Fish Sales

Aug 12, 2014

The Corporation of Delta will waive all berthing fees for boats wanting to sell fish at the Elliott Street Wharf during the trial period for fish sales, which will run from now until September 30, 2014, depending upon conditions and availability, as determined by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Due to community interest and feedback, Delta's Chief Administrative Officer, George V. Harvie, and Councillor Robert Campbell, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission, directed staff to waive all fees during Delta’s trial period for fish sales at the Elliott Street Wharf.

This initiative is intended to attract local fishers to sell their catch at our community wharf for residents to enjoy,” said Councillor Robert Campbell. After receiving feedback from our fishing community, we quickly reviewed our trial rates and protocol and ultimately decided to waive the berthing fees in order to help boost this new program and get it up and running.

During the trial period, the Corporation of Delta will continue to work with the community and local fishers to promote fish sales as a part of local tourism and Delta's fishing heritage along the Fraser River.
