Support the Tollie Fund at the Delta Community Animal Expo on Sunday, August 10!
Jul 14, 2014
In 2008, a fun-loving puppy named Tollie was staying at the Delta Community Animal Shelter. Although adopters saw what a lovely dog she was, they always overlooked her because of her medical condition and the possible expense it may bring. Tollie had a rare condition in her knees and without surgery, her long-term health was unknown. DCAS determined the only way to get her adopted was for the shelter to raise money to fix her knees. Thanks to the generosity of the public, DCAS raised the funds needed for Tollie to get her surgery, and she was adopted to a loving family soon after.
This is the story of the Tollie Fund and how it started. Since Tollie's surgery, DCAS has carried on the fund, improving the lives of many animals and increasing their chances at adoption.
The Delta Community Animal Expo is held each year to raise funds for the Tollie Fund and support shelter animals. This year's expo is on Sunday, August 10, at Ladner Memorial Park, and it's free admission! It's a fun, family- and pet-friendly event, including pet organizations and services, pet health and safety education, animal welfare exhibits, exotic animals, and the Tollie Fund Activity Arena.
Delta Community Animal Shelter (DCAS) animals for adoption will be featured, so if you are looking for a pet, it's a perfect opportunity to visit some of the loving and sweet DCAS animals.
