2014 Heritage Fair Award Winners
Mayor Lois E. Jackson recognized Delta students who received special awards at the 2014 Richmond Delta Regional Heritage Fair. 

New Horizon Seniors Grant
The Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay P.C., Q.C., M.P., Delta-Richmond East presented the Corporation of Delta with a $25,000 New Horizon Seniors Grant, as part of the Government of Canada's New Horizon for Seniors Program. The grant will fund two upcoming seniors expo Delta is hosting this fall in support of empowering seniors and improving their quality of life. 

Point Roberts Radio Tower Proposal
Council received an update and memorandum from The Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay P.C., Q.C., M.P., Delta-Richmond East on the proposal to locate a radio transmitter site in Point Roberts, Washington. Staff will be reporting back on this matter at an upcoming Regular Meeting of Council. View the staff report.

Canada Post
Council received a Canada Post delegation of Jeremy Cotton, General Manager of Government Affairs, and Gilles Chagnon, Manager, Municipal Engagement, who informed Council on Canada Post's plans to cancel home delivery service and install community mailboxes. View the presentation.  

Tour de Delta
Council received a Tour de Delta delegation of Cal Traversy, Co-chair, Board of Directors, and Mark Ernsting, Race Director, who provided information on the upcoming event, taking place July 4–6, 2014.

2014 Annual Report
Council received the 2014 Annual Report including 2013 Audited Financial Statements, as part of requirements of the Community Charter, Section 167. View the staff report.

2013 Council Remuneration and Expenses
Council received the yearly report detailing Council remuneration and expenses, as part of requirements of the Community Charter, Section 168. View the staff report.

Update on Port Metro Vancouver Projects and Initiatives
Council received an update on several port-related projects taking place in Delta, including the Robert Banks Terminal 2 project, Deltaport Terminal road and rail improvement program, habitat banking projects (Glenrose Tidal Marsh and Westham Island-Canoe Pass Tidal Marsh), local channel dredging, noise monitoring station, and transfer of water lot leases. British Columbia's Land Based Spill Response System
Council received a staff report outlining the Province's proposed revisions to the provincial land based spill response system, and approved feedback comments to be submitted to the Ministry of Environment. In response to recent oil pipeline proposals and increased movement of hazardous material by rail and other means, the Ministry of Environment initiated a review of the provincial spill response system. Delta staff supports the majority of the proposed recommendations. View the staff report. 

Agriculture Climate Change Adaptation Program Update
Council approved a recommendation to contribute $10,000 towards year two of the Regional Agricultural Adaptation Strategies Pilot Project. Delta is one of three communities participating in the pilot project, led by the BC Agriculture Council's Agriculture & Food Climate Action Initiative, which studies and prepares for the potential impacts of climate change on agriculture.
