Open Burning

Please be advised that effective today, open burning will be allowed in agricultural areas with a permit. All permit applicants are required to attend the Fire Administration offices at Hall No. 1 (4645 Harvest Drive, Delta) to apply for a burning permit and they must meet the requirements of the Fire Bylaw 5855.

Permits are issued for daytime burning only and are for Monday through Friday inclusive. No weekend burning shall be allowed. The only allowable material to be burned is agricultural waste grown on site.

Each applicant is required to contact the G.V.R.D Air Quality Index (604) 436-6767, 08:00 to 16:00 hours, to determine if the air quality is sufficient to allow burning of agricultural waste.

Anyone burning without a permit or not following the rules of the issued Permit is in violation of Section 5.8.1 of the Fire Bylaw and will result in a cost recovery for fire services as stipulated in Schedule “A”. of the Fire Protection & Fireworks Bylaw 5855, 2001.
