At the July 30, 2018 Regular Meeting, Council gave final consideration and adoption of Bylaw No. 7761 to rezone a portion of the property located at 6005 Highway 17A, to permit construction of an entertainment complex with a casino, hotel, restaurants and meeting facilities. The purpose of this application is to rezone a 4 ha (9.8 ac) portion of the 4.4 ha (10.8 ac) property at 6005 Highway 17A from C3 Commercial Tourist zone to Comprehensive Development Zone No. 495 to permit an entertainment complex with a casino, hotel, multiple restaurants and meeting facilities. The entertainment complex includes a proposed hotel with five storeys above parking and would have a maximum of 124 rooms. A total of 800 parking spaces would be provided for the development.
On Monday, April 9, 2018, Council considered the Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited application for the property at 6005 Highway 17A. Council gave the Bylaw for the application first and second readings. Click here for a copy of the Council report.
Summary of Public Consultation Process
A Public Hearing for this application was held on May 1 and 2, 2018, in accordance with the Local Government Act, on proposed Bylaw No. 7761 pertaining to the application for an entertainment complex with a casino, hotel, multiple restaurants and meeting facilities on the property at 6005 Highway 17A. Council gave the Bylaw third reading at the Meeting Following the Public Hearing.
In addition, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Ltd. hosted public information meetings for this project on November 28, November 30 and December 11, 2017 as well as January 18, 2018. The City of Delta hosted public information meetings on February 1, 7 and 8, 2018.
