Winskill Park is located at 5585 9 Avenue in Tsawwassen. It is a multi-use park enjoyed by various user groups and those seeking passive recreation areas.
At the January 30, 2017 Regular Meeting, Council approved the Winskill Park Master Plan. The Winskill Park Master Plan acts as a guiding document for the future of the site, including priority setting for future projects, while also providing flexibility to respond to changing community needs.
The Winskill Park Master Plan is a process to review the existing Parks, Recreation & Culture services offered through Winskill Park, including the Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre, and to gain an understanding of how Winskill Park would best continue to serve the community in the future.
The opportunities for community consultation during the Winskill Park Master Plan process included 23 meetings over an 11-month period. In total, 135 submissions, including 15 community organizations, were received during the Community Input stage.
The Master Plan process consists of four phases:
- Community Input Phase – involves gathering information from the community about their preferences for programs and services.
- Prioritization – the community input received is included as part of a prioritization exercise led by members of the Parks, Recreation & Culture Commission that have formed a Working Group for this project.
- Program Development – once site priorities are identified, a program (activities and services that would be incorporated at Winskill Park) will be provided to the community for further input.
- Design – finally, staff will seek community feedback on a conceptual design and a sequenced implementation plan for Winskill Park.
