A Note from Mayor & Council 

Mayor and Council direct Delta’s COVID-19 response through daily teleconference meetings with staff, including the enforcement of the Provincial Health Officer’s orders. Mayor and Council are also supporting the COVID-19 response through coordinated efforts with Regional and Provincial counterparts, while required regular Council business continues.

Overview

The City of Delta has taken significant steps to protect the community from COVID-19 and continues to take action to enforce the orders of the Provincial Health Officer to limit the spread of the virus. All City of Delta facilities, as well as playgrounds, bike parks, skate parks, the stairs at Fred Gingell Park, sport courts, basketball hoops, artificial turf fields, the Delta Nature Reserve boardwalk, golf courses, and public picnic shelters are closed. Restaurants are prohibited from serving food on premises and all personal services businesses are closed. 

Please do your part to protect yourselves and others – practice social distancing, wash your hands, and stay home.

City Communications

Delta Community Animal Shelter

Delta Community Animal Shelter is currently closed to the general public. The shelter can only be accessed by appointment, and for redeeming strays and/or adoptions. Please contact the shelter at 604-940-7111 to schedule an appointment and be aware of the following: 

  • Scheduled visitors will be screened over the phone prior to being permitted access.
  • All public education classes at DCAS have been cancelled until further notice. 
  • Animal Control (including calls for dangerous animals) will continue to be enforced by City of Delta Bylaw staff.
  • Animal adoptions will be processed over the phone where ever possible.
  • Located strays (with IDs) will be returned to guardians in the field when possible.

Effective planning for your pets will help ensure that animal service resources do not become overwhelmed and that pets do not experience unnecessary stress in the event that you are required to put your plan into action.
